Purpose
Conveniently located just one train stop from Kobe Airport—which recently launched international flights—and only 15 minutes from Sannomiya, this urban zoological park offers a relaxing environment that feels far removed from the city. Lush greenery and vibrant floral displays create a tranquil setting ideal for corporate groups.
The zoo is widely recognized for its pioneering efforts to achieve the first successful breeding of the endangered shoebill in Asia. Building on this expertise, the venue can propose programs that engage participants in exploring biodiversity and environmental conservation, making it suitable for educational incentives or CSR-focused MICE activities.
Authenticity
The nighttime zoo tour is conducted in small groups of ten, moving quietly through three key areas: Bigbil Shoebill Habitat, Asian Forest, and Tropical Forest. Zookeepers guide participants through the unique nocturnal behaviors of signature species—such as the “motionless” shoebill, tree-climbing red pandas, and sloths or southern tamanduas that roam freely above the walkways—offering insights not visible during daytime visits.
After the tour, guests enjoy a buffet-style dinner in a special space surrounded by diverse plant displays. The menu is a locally sourced, exclusive collaboration with the restaurant division of the nearby Portopia Hotel. During the meal, the program can incorporate staff-facilitated engagement activities, including large-screen video presentations and small experiential booths.
ESG Alignment
The “Circle of Sustainability” project protects the feeding habitats of the endangered Tsushima leopard cat—whose survival is threatened by the loss of forests and rice paddies—by preserving rice fields that serve as vital foraging grounds. Kobe Animal Kingdom supports this initiative by purchasing rice grown using wildlife-friendly cultivation methods from certified producers, and incorporating it into its restaurant menus.
Within the program, staff provide an in-depth explanation of the park’s broader circular-economy initiatives in a dedicated zone called the “Biodiversity Conservation Wall,” highlighting practical efforts that contribute to habitat protection and sustainable resource use.
